ANOTHER man appeared in Court yesterday, charged with unlawfully assaulting his reputed wife so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson remanded Troy Adams, 37, of Lot 1414 Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, to prison, after he pleaded not guilty. It is alleged that, last May 28, the defendant assaulted Telesha Stephens.
Adams requested to be granted bail in order to secure his home which he said was left unattended but the magistrate refused him pre-trial freedom after hearing from the couple.
The defendant said he and the virtual complainant had an argument and she picked up a knife while holding their three-month-old baby.
He said she also threatened to drink a cup of methylated spirits.
Stephens related that her brother visited her with a male friend and that upset Adams, who accused her of having a relationship with the other man and cuffed her in the face.
The magistrate ordered a probation report and postponed the domestic violence case to June 15.
