POLICE are investigating how Ray Anthony, 24, serving a three-year sentence for possession of a narcotic smoking utensil, came to have 258 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) at the New Amsterdam Prison, in Berbice.
He was handed over into Police custody after the find, about 15:30h last week Wednesday, by prison officers conducting routine checks.
Reports said Anthony was observed acting in a suspicious manner and a search of his person yielded leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited plant.
