An unlicensed gun and a quantity of cocaine were found in a checked-in suitcase for an out-going LIAT flight at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Sunday.
And five persons have been arrested. Police reported that at about 10:25 hrs on Sunday, members of the Special Constabulary on duty at the airport, and who were manning the electronic baggage scanner, conducted a search on a checked-in suitcase for a LIAT outgoing flight and found a .44 Magnum revolver with 15 rounds and 1kilogram 109 grams of cocaine.
A man and a woman who were passengers on the flight were arrested.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two other men and another female.
They are all in police custody assisting with investigations.
