Two Brothers ex-employee charged with forgery, fraud

FORMER employee of a Two Brothers gas station has been charged on two counts of forgery.
Dyana Torrington, 21, of Lot 62 Hyde Park, Timehri, also on East Bank Demerara, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday and pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The allegations against her are that, on May 19, she forged a payment bill from the fuel station and, with intent to defraud, obtained $13,802.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Mohamed Zaffar, for the defendant, requested reasonable bail after noting that the sum mentioned is not a huge one.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, maintained that Torrington committed an offence regardless of the amount involved.
The Prosecutor said the defendant wrote a credit bill for the money and pretended that it was genuine when no crediting was done and took the cash for her  own use.
Torrington was put on $185,000 bail until July 13.
