Court hears…
THE owner of a stolen bicycle was told he has to pay $500 for the recovery, a Court heard yesterday.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, gave the narrative to Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, when Edward Wright, 40, of Lot 31 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, faced the larceny charge.
Particulars of the offence said the defendant stole the bike, valued $4,000, property of Anthony France, on May 22.
Wright pleaded not guilty and protested that he does not steal but the Prosecutor said, the virtual complainant, after missing the cycle that he had left in his yard, made checks and found Wright with it.
It was then that France was asked to pay the money to get back what he had lost, the Prosecutor related.
Wright denied making such a proposal, and, before being put on self-bail until July 9, said he suffers from tuberculosis and constant breathing trouble.
