… Social Sciences beat Health Sciences 67-50
HUGH Arthur was the main instrument in the Faculty of Natural Sciences’ 56- 54 victory over the University of Guyana’s defending Inter-Faculty Basketball champions, Faculty of Technology, during yesterday’s round of games. Arthur’s performance put 30 well-deserved points on the scoreboard. His efficacy was evident on both the offensive and defensive ends as he was able to penetrate the oppositions’ defence with ease as his point tally would show and he was just as aggressive, defensively, as he forced a lot of turnovers.
The Faculty of Technology’s Rudy James also made an impression on the scoreboard as he managed to cough up 23 points by the expiry of regulation time. He was assisted on the offence by Gregory Williams who scored 10 points.
The Faculty of Social Sciences continued their winning streak as they executed their 17-point domination over the Faculty of Health Sciences in the second game that was played yesterday. The first half of the encounter was a close tussle with Health Sciences managing to keep a narrow disparity between themselves and the opposition on the scoreboard.
The half eventually ended with a tied score of 23 points. Health Sciences’ stamina waned after that first half as Social Sciences turned up the heat which led to the eventual 67-50 final score in their favour.
Kiev Chesney and Yannic December scored 14 points apiece for Social Sciences and Jermaine Hamilton also registered double digits with his 11 points. On the other end of the scoreboard Sean Lashley scored a game-high 19 points with Adrian Adams’ efforts earning him 10 points.
