Chairman of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Mr Alli Baksh informed Councillors of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) at their statutory meeting for May that the government is currently looking at plans to start construction work on the Police Outpost for the Pomeroon River estuary.
Responding to Councillor Francis Darchiville, who is representing the Alliance for Change (AFC) on the Council, about when construction work will start Mr Baksh, said the site is already identified for the outpost.
The Pomeroon River is a port of entry from the Atlantic Ocean.
Several residents of the Pomeroon, along with many farmers, have made several calls for the police outpost because of recent robberies and other illegal activities being conducted from boats along the river.
Residents are claiming that the Police Outpost will monitor boats entering and leaving the Pomeroon River.
