Chairman of the Health, Environment and Sanitation sub-committee of the Region Two Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Mrs Juliet Coonjah, is calling for Amerindian Village Councils in Region Two to assist health workers in their respective communities with transportation to conduct health visits in riverain areas.
Speaking at the RDC meeting for May, Mrs Coonjah said all Village Councils in the region are equipped with boats and outboard engines, and health workers should be assisted so they can visit every family living in remote areas along the banks of the Pomeroon River and creeks.
Another Councillor of the RDC, former Toshoa of Capoey Mr Ulric Henry, supported Mrs Coonjah call and added that village councils have equipment and resources which they must use to assist health workers to do home visits along rivers and creeks.
Toshoa of Tapakuma, Mrs Doreen Jackobus, also agreed that Village Councils must assist.
