Valero’s body exhumed as family suspect police

THE body of former world lightweight champion Edwin Valero has been exhumed following a request from his family, who believe he may not have committed suicide. The superstar boxer was found dead in his prison cell on April 19, apparently having hanged himself in remorse after being arrested for the murder of his wife in a frenzied knife attack.
But Venezuelan prosecutor Jesus Belucchi said that two of Valero’s relatives, Edward and Luis, requested the exhumation because they believe that the boxer could have been strangled by police.
The 28-year-old father of two, nicknamed ‘The Inca’, had been charged with stabbing his wife Jennifer to death in a room at the InterContinental Hotel in the city of Valencia.
Police said he had confessed to the murder. (Eurosport)
