DESMOND Blair called Butcher, who was released from the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) last January 28 after spending three years at the correctional centre on Essequibo Coast, appeared before Magistrate Omeyena Hamilton yesterday, on two charges of simple larceny. The 17-year-old NOC graduate, of Edinburgh, made his appearance at New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice, where he pleaded not guilty and was put on $60,000 bail.
The case for the Prosecution, according to Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, is that defendant, between April 14 and 15 and April 23 and 24, at Glasgow New Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, too, stole two cell phones, a Razar and Blackberry, a Republic Bank ATM card and $16,000, from Devika Amrah also known as Serena.
Blair’s mother, who was in the courtroom, declared she is fed up of her son embarrassing her.
He has to be back in Court on May 17.
