The government has taken a decision to expand all aspects of the crime observatory facility which was set up at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The disclosure was made by Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon at his weekly post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday.
He noted that the observatory was established to monitor national crime indicators which are expected to influence crime fighting, prevention strategy and tactics.
Dr Luncheon pointed out that the information analysed deals with all the features of criminal activity in Guyana and will provide enormous benefits for crime fighting.
“On this basis, Cabinet has agreed to expand all aspects of the crime observatory by initiating more consultations with the intention of optimising its input. The benefits that would accrue would be the maximum that can be done under the present circumstances,” the Cabinet Secretary stated. (GINA)
