Cabinet satisfied with international T20 administration

CABINET at its meeting last Thursday expressed its satisfaction with the conduct of the Guyana sport administration for the international Twenty/20 cricket event. This is according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, yesterday at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing, at the Office of the President, Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown.
“And it offered congratulations to Dr. Anthony (Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport) and his ministerial led team that had planned and executed Guyana’s hosting as a venue of those matches,“ he said.
He said Cabinet sentiment was the successes with the West Indies team at this stage, as well as, the good execution serve to make the national display more vibrant and more thorough.
“The feeling was that there would be figures to support the impression of strong national sentiment for international events,” he said.
He said when those are provided in a release, it would show indeed, that there is strong support for international sports events here in Guyana.
“But already that impression has been created,” he insisted, and the Cabinet Secretary added that the comprehensive mobilization by the State was noted, and it had a lot to do in ensuring the success of the tournament and the way in which it was refreshingly carried out with attention to hospitality, security, and traffic management.
“The organisation of the event and the organisers all earned Cabinet’s commendation and deserve national recognition for that event,’ he maintained.
