Buxton Mc Lennon/ Sumner murder trial

Inspector Burnett saw  bleeding  witness Adams at station
THE Judge and jury in the Buxton Mc Lennon /Sumner murder trial yesterday heard how a bleeding witness, Errol Adams, called ‘Dynamite’, ran into the Vigilance Police Station to make a wounding report.

But Inspector Noland Burnett told the jury about a confrontation between the number two accused, Trian Sumner, and the witness Adams, when the latter repeated the report he had made to the police.
Later, under cross-examination by defence Counsel Mr. Basil Williams,  the witness Burnett said that while the report was made in his presence, that report was not made to  him.
Witness however admitted that he had given a different version about the same incident at the preliminary inquiry when the matter was fresher in his mind.
In his evidence in chief, led by Prosecutor Mrs. Judith Girdharie-Mursalin,  witness Burnett recalled that on January 9, 2004, about 15:15 hours,  he was at Vigilance Police Station when a negro man came running into the station with blood on his clothing and bleeding from wounds on the right side of his forehead and the back of his head.
The man, whose name he learnt to be Errol Adams, called ‘Dynamite’ , had made a report.  As a result,t he witness escorted Errol Adams to hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor who issued a certificate as to the injuries received.  Witness took possession of the medical certificate and then escorted Adams back to Vigilance Police Station.
At the station, witness said that he made  an entry in the property book and made a report to the sergeant.
At the station, witness received information about a man lying in an unfenced yard at Buxton Line Top.
A party of policemen and the witness  went to Buxton Middle Walk where they saw the body of a man attired in a white vest and  dark coloured pants with what appeared to be bloodstains.  The man appeared to be dead.
Witnesss said that he later learnt that the man was Odinga Bryan.   He escorted the body to Lyken’s Funeral Parlour.   About 9.00 hours on the 12th January, 2004,  he was present at the Georgetown Hospital mortuary where relatives identified the body of Odinga Bryan.
Pathologist Dr.Nehaul Singh later performed a post mortem on Odinga’s body.   The doctor had removed a warhead  from the right side of Bryan’s body under the right breast.  It was handed over to witness.
At the conclusion of the post mortem, the body was handed over to relatives for burial.
Witness said that at the confrontation, Adams said that Trian Sumner had dealt him a blow on his head with a shotgun. Continuing, Adams had said that while Trian Sumner and others were attacking him, he managed to escape.  Whilst running away, he heard what seemed to be gunshots.
Witness said that after Adams had his say, Sumner replied, ”Me en know nothing what Adams is talking about”.
The trial is continuing.
