The grieving woman recalled the last time she saw her daughter was Friday, when she showed up to visit the family.
Mrs. Bharrat added that her daughter complained of not feeling well and told her she went to the backdam with her husband to catch shrimps.
The woman disclosed that a week ago her daughter was beaten by her husband over a woman who has a child for him, and she went to a doctor and got a medical and even made a report to the police.
She said there are numerous reports lodged with the police at Vigilance Station. But they would lock up Mr. Gangadin for a day, and then he is released and goes back to his old ways of hitting her daughter so badly she often had to seek medical attention.
Gangadin’s sister, Natasha Bharrat, told the Guyana Chronicle that they learnt that her sister and her husband went to visit friends at Enmore and Enterprise Saturday night, also on the East Coast Demerara and had returned home in a motorcar.
But then they had a fight over a cell phone call, and they left home in a canter truck.
Bharrat said the row was over the cell phone call from a woman who is the mother of Gangadin’s child.
Bharrat said she and her mother had on numerous occasions advised her sister to leave Gangadin. And when she did so, he would come to her mother’s house and beg his wife to return, and she always did.
The woman’s body was discovered on the roadway not far from the Vigilance Police Station, with her throat slit and it appeared as if she was run over by a vehicle.
Her husband was later arrested at Enterprise.
