Two years for stealing vehicle deck

Shawn James, 38, of 142 Cooper Street, Albouystown, was yesterday sentenced to two years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to a simple larceny charge.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson and particulars of the offence stated that on April 17, he stole one vehicle deck valued $78,000, property of National Hardware Ltd.

Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, informed the court that the defendant was before the court on a similar matter. He said the defendant was seen on a camera stuffing the item into his pants.
The prosecutor said on the day in question the defendant left the store without paying for the items and he was seen on a surveillance camera. He said on April 27, the defendant returned to the store and he was arrested and charged.
The defendant told the court that he stole the deck for $5,000 and went back to the store to purchase a pot spoon.
