Second post mortem performed on Sangeeta’s remains

The body of Sangeeta Persaud, called “Sheena” was exhumed Saturday at the La Grange Cemetery, West Bank Demerara, by an overseas pathologist and samples taken after the post mortem.
The teenager’s remains were placed on the tomb and a second post mortem was performed by the pathologist who was invited to Guyana.
The remains were re-buried in the coffin and grave was re-sealed.
Present at the post mortem was government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh; the pastor of Christ Ambassadors Church, Ewart Cummings, who is said to have cast out evil spirits from Persaud the day she died; several members of the Guyana Police Force; Bishop Juan Edghill of the Ethnic Relations Commission; and Attorney-at-law, Nigel Hughes; along with relatives of the dead girl.
The foreign pathologist arrived in the country Saturday.
At a press conference on Thursday, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee announced that they wanted to bring closure to the Sangeeta Persaud controversy and has decided to invite an overseas pathologist to perform a second post mortem on the body.
Regarding the Persaud matter, Rohee said since the incident had caused concerns raised by the family, the government had decided on the second post mortem to bring closure to the matter.
The results of the initial post mortem were inconclusive.
