PLEASE allow me to voice my opinion about the plans that are in place for the expansion of the National Zoological Park.
I am really happy about this because I always felt that our zoo needed expansion in terms of having more animals, space and recreational facilities.
The plans to create a suitable and spacious environment for animals on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway, particularly those species endemic to Guyana will benefit many citizens and our country as well.
Many tourists and Guyanese as well pay enormous sums of money to visit places like the majestic Kaieteur Falls to have a glimpse of nature and its wonders.
Imagine how many persons will be delighted to witness some of these same wonders at a cheaper and closer location!
In addition, this venture will create employment for many persons, especially those on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway and along the East Bank.
This will also enhance our tourism industry, with Splashmins and other resorts along the highway, families can enjoy a planned day filled with fun and relaxation.
Children and students will benefit from this too since they have a broader picture of endemic species and conservation.
This initiative to expand the National Zoological Park on the highway may very well attract investments from the private sector and the highway could undergo a transformation just as the Diamond area along the East Bank.
I hope that this plan is a success and I am looking forward to visiting that park in the future.
Hope Zoological Park plans become successful
