Mc Lennon/ Sumner murder trial aborted
JUSTICE Roxanne George, the trial Judge in the Buxton murder trial, aborted the trial yesterday following a complaint that a member of the jury was a playmate of the accused and could not be impartial. Acting quickly, the judge commended the juror and recalled the remainder of the panel to report for service today when an attempt will be made to strike another panel, so that the case could be re-started.
According to the judge, after receiving the information on Monday afternoon and investigating the matter, arrangements were made for the rest of the panel to be recalled since the trial will have to be aborted and another trial started.
The Buxton murder trial, involving accused Squince Mc Lennon, called ‘Killer’, and Trion Sumner, called ’Tatie’ ,began on Monday at the Demerara Assizes before Justice Roxanne George and a mixed jury.
The defence was represented by Attorney-at-law Mr. Basil Williams, while the prosecution is being conducted by Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin, in association with Miss Shavani Balcharan.
