Security guard, taxi driver bonded

ACTING Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday bonded two men who appeared before her charged with assaulting each other. One of the probationers, Quacy Alleyne, 29, of Lot 1832 North Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty to the charge which said, on April 14, at Barr Street, Kitty, he unlawfully assaulted Sherwyn Braithwaite.
Braithwaite, a 27-year-old ex-policeman, of Lot 19 Church Street, Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara, also pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Alleyne the same day.
Alleyne told the Court he is a security guard at ‘The Edge’ night club, in Hotel Tower, Main Street, also in Georgetown and Braithwaite is a taxi driver.
They both indicated to the magistrate that they did not wish to continue the prosecution of one another and the cases were dismissed, with each of them having to pay $10,000 Court costs and put on a bond, to keep the peace, for one year.
