SUNIL Singh, of Lot 10 Owen Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was sentenced to two years imprisonment yesterday, for break and enter and larceny. Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson imposed the custodial penalty on him after he admitted that, between March 21 and April 15, he broke into the storeroom of Anuj Persaud and stole one gas cylinder, an amplifier, a tool kit and other booty, all valued $103,000.
Singh told the Court he saw the door to the place open and decided to go in, encouraged by another man, to whom he sold the stolen things for $10,000.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the burglar lives in an abandoned minibus that is parked on the same street in which Persaud lives.
