Boy, 15, on charges of assaulting, threatening mother

A FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy, charged with assaulting and threatening his mother, was yesterday remanded, to the Ruimveldt Juvenile Detention Centre, by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, one of which said, on April 11, in Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust, he unlawfully assaulted the virtual complainant.
The other charge said, that same day, he made use of threatening language to her.
But the woman’s son said she threw hot water on him and she said he threatened to chop her with a cutlass.
Magistrate Robertson rebuked the lad for referring to his mother as she when narrating his story and postponed the case to May 4, pending a probation report.
