—Rosignol edge Buxton 5-4 in Super League
GEORGETOWN edge Berbice 2-1 when play in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Under-17 Inter-Association tournament continued yesterday at the Blairmont Community Centre ground.
K. Archer and William Europe netted the city side’s two goals in the 15th and 28th minute respectively, while Sherwin Lewis was on target for Berbice in the 23rd minute. Also, when action in the GFF’s Super League continued yesterday at the Blairmont Community Centre ground, Rosignol United defeated Buxton United 5-4 but up to press time the names of the goal scorers for the two teams were not available.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Inter-Association League continued yesterday at the Enmore Community Centre ground where Bartica edged East Coast 3-1 with the winning team’s goals coming off the boots of Judith Williams in the 15th minute and Teryka Joseph in the 38th and 46th minute.
Scoring for East Coast was Tasha Greaves in the 29th minute while the team’s second goal came by way of a defence error in the 40th minute.
In the GFF’s Super League points standing, GDF heads the points table with 10 points from four matches.
They have so far won three matches and drew the other.
Defending champions Alpha `The Hammer’ United has nine points in second position from three victories.
Alpha was down to play Upper Demerara’s Milerock last evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground but that match has been rescheduled for tonight because of the unplayable condition of the outfield.
Milkerock is third in the points standing with nine points from four matches.
They are followed by Rosignol United with nine points also from four matches, but they (Rosignol United) have an inferior goal difference.
Next is Buxton United with eight points from two victories and two drawn games along with one loss and they (Buxton) were down to play Rosignol United yesterday afternoon at the Blairmont ground.
Victoria kings is next in the points table with seven points from two wins and one draw from four matches and they (Victoria Kings were down to play Seawall FC of West Demerara yesterday at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground.
Bartica’s Liquid Gold is next in the standing with four points from four matches. They won one and drew one while loosing two.
Rosignol United, also with four points from a similar amount of matches follows next with one win and one draw but with an inferior goal difference than Liquid Gold.
Seawall FC, Sunburst Camptown and Topp XX all have three points but Seawall FC has a better goal difference ( minus one) that Camptown (minus two) and Topp XX (minus three).
