At Demerara Assizes…
JUSTICE Brassington Reynolds will, today, sum up the evidence to the jury in the Ogle murder case at the Demerara Assizes. It will be, historically, the second consecutive Saturday in recent times, that the High Court is sitting in the criminal jurisdiction.
Still in the dock, indicted for unlawfully killing 33-year-old taxi driver Teddy Smith, on October 24, 2004, are Christopher Dhanrad also known as Paul Jagnandan and Vijay Rajkumar called Eon.
Two other men, who, jointly, faced the same indictment since the trial began on January 12, Azim Khan and Kumar Seeraj nicknamd ‘Boysie’ were freed on no-case submissions by their Defence Counsel Hukumchand and Adrian Thompson.
As the proceedings neared end yesterday, other Defence Counsel Euclin Gomes and Kamini Parag declined to address the jury, leaving State Prosecutor Ganesh Hira not being able to do so, either. (George Barclay)
