Hired GPS helps retrieve missing taxi

THE Global Positioning System (GPS) provided by International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA) helped a city taxi service retrieve one of its cars that went missing on Saturday night. After the driver failed to respond on the radio communication set, GT Express Taxi Service contacted IPA and a security representative located the vehicle within seconds, and shut it down completely at the location where it was found, in the vicinity of Everest Cricket Ground, on Camp Road, near the Georgetown seawall.
Everything was intact, GT Express Manager, Mr. Yogesh Singh confirmed to the Guyana Chronicle.
He said the car was reported missing about 22:30 h and he is thankful that the IPA service was successful.
Singh said, presently, seven motor cars attached to the taxi service are GPS registered and it is for the safety of customers and drivers that the GPS was contracted at a cost of $4,800 monthly per car.
He said, at any given time, they are privy to view real time tracking of their vehicles through the unlimited satellite service that has mileage gauge, alarm, panic button, shut down feature and fuel and oil consumption monitoring.
Singh recommended its hiring as the way to go.
