Attempted murder charge follows prisoners’ dispute over marijuana

THIRTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Denzil Kistoo and 30-year-old Tito Bowen have been charged with attempted murder.
They appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on the joint charge yesterday but were not required to plead to the December 23, 2009 indictable offence.
It is alleged that the accused (no addresses given) made an attempt to kill Damion Trotman.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was stabbed with a knife in the chest while in the vicinity of Stabroek Market, Georgetown.
The Prosecutor said the wounded man collapsed, was picked up by a Police patrol and admitted a patient to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Kistoo claimed he acted to save his own life because the injured man had advanced towards him with a pair of scissors, after a dispute over some ganja (marijuana) while they were previously in jail together.
The two accused were granted $250,000 bail each until April 20.
