The Audit Office of Guyana has announced in a press release that it will be hosting a half-day workshop on Risk Based Auditing today  which will be addressed by Mr. Lal Balkaran, a Certified General Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and holder of an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School.
The Audit Office will be benefiting from a donation of 20 books from a list of the Institute of Internal Auditors (ILA) Publications, including Auditing Purchasing and Contracts, Auditing the Procurement Function and Effective Fraud Detection and Prevention Techniques by Balkaran, after the conclusion of the workshop.
Balkaran is currently a Senior Manager in Ernst and Young’s Advisory Practice with a focus on Internal Audit.
He is also a published author and is perceived as a leading member of the internal audit profession. He has more than 25 years of internal auditing experience, the release stated.
Some of his contributions to the world of commerce involve six reference books on business and related areas, including the world’s first dictionary on auditing published by Lexis-Nexis Canada, and an international directory on accounting and business certifications published by Wiley.
