In Region Two…
A MONUMENT in memory of late President Janet Jagan will be erected in the Cheddi Jagan Children’s Play Park, at Anna Regina on Essequibo Coast.
Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo told the Guyana Chronicle the memorial will be next to the one for her late husband, Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
According to Samaroo, the construction will begin next week and General Secretary of the Women’s Progressive Organisation (WPO) and Member of the Central Executive Committee of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Mrs. Indra Chandarpal, said the Regional Party Committee will erect it as part of several activities to celebrate the life and work of Mrs. Jagan.
Chandarpal recalled that Janet Jagan, who was also President of the WPO, passed away on March 28, 2009.
Ever since Dr Jagan’s death, that month every year has been dedicated to his work and life but now the commemorative will be for both, she said.
Chandarpal turned the sod, on Sunday, at the site where the erection will take place.
