Man celebrating cricket win touched policewoman with penis

Court told…
THIRTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Narad Ramroop, of Lot 276 Third Street, Success, East Coast Demerara, was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of indecently assaulting a member of the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson upheld an objection to the grant of pre-trial freedom to him, by Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, after the defendant pleaded not guilty to having, last March 21, at Everest Cricket Ground, Georgetown, committed the act on a 19-year-old woman.
The Prosecutor said Ramroop exercised total disrespect for the policewoman and his behaviour should not be condoned.
Telford said Ramroop had been released on station bail but failed to attend Court previously and an arrest warrant was issued for him, clear evidence that the defendant has no respect for law and order.
The Prosecutor also said Ramroop works outside of Guyana in one of the Caribbean islands and the case was put off to April 1.
The virtual complainant told the Court she was performing her duties at Everest Ground where Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Companmy (GT&T) hosted a cricket tournament.
She said Ramroop was attempting to go beyond the boundaries which were marked by rope and, when she attempted to speak to him, he took off his hat and placed it on her head.
The woman said she turned away from him and was restraining another individual from doing the same thing when she felt Ramroop dancing closely behind with his penis touching her.
Defence Counsel Patrice Henry claimed the defendant was dancing to celebrate the win by Trophy Stall, which he was backing and did the “usual wining down and coming up” while the policewoman was the closest person to him.
