Alfred signs on for rematch with `Sexy Panther’

I beat her before and I can beat her again – Shondell Alfred
SHONDELL ‘The Mystery Lady’ Alfred placed her signature as a mark of fearless agreement on the contract for her May 2 rematch with Corrine ‘The Sexy Panther’ DeGroot yesterday at the Kingston office of fight promoter Odinga Lumumba.
According to president of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) Peter Abdool, Lumumba should be thanked for his winning the bid to host the fight as it presents an opportunity for the two ladies to settle their score.
Alfred won the last encounter with DeGroot where she solidified her accession to the vacant Women’s International Boxing Association bantamweight title.
Abdool went on to say that both camps are looking forward to this bout as DeGroot claims that due to complications leading up to her last encounter with Alfred she felt off her game and she does not count her loss as valid in her book, while Alfred, on the other hand is quite convinced of her dominance in the bout.

Lumumba related that while he is out of the promotion business, significant fights such as this cannot be left to chance and as such he could not ignore it. He said that he felt it right to give Shondell the chance to redeem herself. Lumumba gave thanks to the Guyana Boxing Board of Control for their support in the venture.
Alfred, who currently holds the upper hand having defeated DeGroot once before, was a beacon of confidence as she spoke at the contract signing yesterday. “I’ve beaten her before and I can beat her again, she said.
Come May 2 you will see the changes in ‘The Mystery Lady’, I have been working hard and I know that I have the ability to do it, I just have to work harder.”
