FORTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD Bhagmattie Roopnarine and her juvenile son  were both denied bail when they appeared before Magistrate Adela Magamooto0, last Friday on a joint drug trafficking charge.
The 15-year-old boy was remanded into Police custody and his mother to prison, until March 30, after they pleaded not guilty, at New Amsterdam Court in Berbice.
Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, said ranks, acting on information received, went to the defendants’ home in Angoy’s Avenue, on the eastern fringe of New Amsterdam and found 28 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) in a clothes basket.
