THE Guyana Police Force wishes to respond an article published in the Kaieteur News of Thursday March 18, 2010, under the caption “In the wider interest of Justice”.
Among other things, the article attributed to ‘Peeping Tom’ states that during the crime wave, it was evident that some gunmen were receiving support from persons inside and outside of the community, and that to date no one has been charged and placed before the courts for aiding and abetting the gunmen.
The Guyana Police Force wishes to state that this statement is far from factual as a number of persons have been charged and placed before the courts for such activities in relation to the ‘Fineman’ gang. For information they are listed below:
1. Sheldon Williams of Cummings Lodge Squatting area has been charged with harbouring wanted person.
2. Omali Rogers of Woodpecker Lane, Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has been charged with harbouring wanted person and accessory after the fact. He was placed on bail and has not been appearing in court consequently a ‘wanted bulletin’ was issued for him on April 22, 2009.
3. Shimroy Lyght of Christianburg, Linden, has been charged with harbouring wanted person and accessory after the fact.
