West Indies A Team for Bangladesh, England tours
THE West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced the schedules for the upcoming series involving the West Indies A Team from April to July. The first series will feature a four-day match and two T20 games in Grenada against the Zimbabwe senior side.
The Zimbabweans will be in the region as part of their preparation for the International Cricket Council’s World T20 Tournament to be played in the Caribbean in April and May.
In May, the Windies go to Bangladesh where they will be involved in a limited-overs tri-nation series with the host nation’s A Team and South Africa A.
They will also play two four-day matches against Bangladesh A.
A week later, the West Indies A start their tour of England and Ireland where they will face the England Lions and India A in a triangular One-Day Series and visit Ireland for two 50-over matches against the Irish national team.
Dr Ernest Hilaire, Chief Executive Officer of the WICB, said the tours will form part of the overall plan to develop players in the West Indies. He added that the matches will also provide them with exposure to the international stage in different conditions.
Dr Hilaire noted: “We have some very good players across the Caribbean and the A Team series we have put together in the coming months will provide an opportunity for our cricketers to test themselves against good opponents in different conditions.”
