McKennon tops GFRC introductory course

CHALLIUS McKennon came out on top of the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) Introductory Course which climaxed on Sunday at the Carifesta Sports Complex. According to a release, McKennon secured a pass mark of 92% to top the course ahead of the 16 other participants.
Of the 17 persons that took the course, one was absent on exam day while another failed to acquire the pass mark of 70%. That person would be rewriting the exam soon after receiving some more lectures from the instructors.
The course was organised and coordinated by the Guyana Football Federation and the GFRC.
The highest score attained by a female was 85% and that person is woman soldier, Lance Corporal Marineika Tabithia Welcome.
Other leading scorers were Sean Henry and Staff Sergeant Kwesi Isaacs of the GDF with 90% each, Staff Sergeant Kurt Trotman of the GDF with 87%, Warrant Officer Raul Rodney of the GDF with 86%, Delroy Henry with 85% and Sherwin Moore with 84%.
The other successful participants were Gillian Tappin, Tomeka Edwards, Lisa Ann Glasgow, Sergeant Rebeka Alexander of the GDF, Uzzi Yisrael, Kenrick Hernandez, and Desmond Joseph. There were six female participants.
Lawrence Griffith a FIFA-qualified referee instructor and Roy McArthur, a qualified FIFA referee were the Instructors.
Meanwhile the beginners’ course will continue on Saturday and Sunday in Linden and a total of 11 persons have already indicated their intention to participate.
The Instructors would be Griffith, Lindley Langhorne, Selwyn Lancaster and Phillip Gibbons.
On March 27 and 28 the course will be held in Bartica and the instructors will be Griffith and Ian Beckles.
