Sinclair (258) and Fudadin (150) lead RHTGG to huge victory over Skeldon
… Peerkhan hits ton for Port Mourant
THANKS to a double-century from Jason Sinclair (258) and a ton from skipper and national middle-order batsman Assad Fudadin (150), Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets (RHTGG) were able to coast to a massive victory over Skeldon as play in the Berbice zone of the Guyana Cricket Board National three-day tournament continued last Sunday.
Prolific opener Moshin Peerkhan hit a ton for Port Mourant who placed themselves in a strong position to press for an outright victory against Scottsburg United at the Albion Community Development Centre ground.
Playing at the Area ‘H’ ground, Skeldon batted first and scored 84 all out with Sydney Jackman 18 and George Nauth 37 not out being the only batsmen to reach double figures against the bowling of Lloyden Lewis (3-2), Ravi Narine (3-23) and Terrence Madramootoo 2-8 for RHTGG.
In reply, RHTGG rattled up a massive 540 for 5 declared with Sinclair blasting 260 (30×4, 6×6) before he was forced to retire hurt with 30 boundaries and six sixes while Fudadin scored an even 150 (15×4, 4×6) before he was run-out.
The two added 226 for the fifth wicket and along with Lewis’ unbeaten 50, Eon Hooper 30, Dominic Ricky 25 and Lenny Sanichar’s unbeaten 25, RHTGG reached their eventual target, while medium pacer Junior Reid took 4-140 for Skeldon who fared better in their second innings, but were bowled out for 197.
Left-handed batsman Nazim Khan, batting at number four, top-scored with an aggressive 79 (14×4, 1×6),while Junior Reid (35) and Junior Blair (20) offered support against the bowling of Lewis who took 6-49 and Fudadin 2-42, as RHTGG romped to an innings and 251-run victory.
At the Blairmont ground, Police and West Berbice are locked in a tight battle for outright points after Police won the first innings.
Batting first, West Berbice scored 149 all out with Sherwin McPherson 47 (6×4) and Krisindat Ramoo 29 (2×4) being the principal scorers.
Off-spinner Albert Sinclair and Malvern Williams 2 for 28 were the best bowlers for Police who, in reply, rattled up 214 with Sinclair top-scoring with a disciplined 72 and he was supported by Jerry Heyliger 44 and Michael Saul 27.
Sherwin McPherson took 6 for 60 and left-arm spinner Sherwin Peterkin 2 for 33 bowled for West Berbice who, batting a second time with a deficit of 65 runs, were bowled out for 268 with Ramoo top-scoring with 60.
Troy Halley (40) and Raffel Estriado 30 supported Ramoo with the bat while Sinclair completed a match-haul of 10 wickets by taking 4 for 62 off 22 overs and medium pacer Kellon Henry 2 for 54 for Police who were set a target of 204 and reached 8 without loss at the close.
At the Albion Cricket Ground, Port Mourant led Scottsburg United on first innings and is in a strong position to win outright.
Scottsburg United batted first and scored 211 with national Under-19 captain Anthony Bramble top-scoring with 45 while off spinner Rajendra Bolo took 5 wickets for 48 for Port Mourant whose prolific opener Moshin Peerkhan then blasted an aggressive 165 (24×4), as they declared at 339 for 7. Chrisendat Arjune 57 not out and Devindra Thakurdeen 35 supported Peerkhan.
Facing a deficit of 128, Scottsburg United reached 95 for 3 in the second innings with Bramble on 65 not out.
