A 38-year-old West Demerara woman who was stabbed in the abdomen during a misunderstanding with another woman at Arimu Backdam, Bartica on Monday last, has been admitted a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). The injured woman, who hails from Samaroo Dam, West Bank Demerara, was rushed to the GPH’s Accident and Emergency Unit where she was treated for the wound to the left region of her abdomen. She was later admitted to the Female Medical Ward, where her condition has been listed as critical, but stable.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Alvorn Wilson, of Supenaam, Essequibo, remains in a critical condition in the Male Surgical Ward of the GPH, after sustaining injuries to his back, also on Monday.
Wilson was reportedly injured at Manaka, Essequibo, around 12:45 hrs on the ill-fated day, after being struck by the trunk of a falling tree. He was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Unit where he was examined before being admitted to the institution. Unable to move his legs, he is feared to have suffered spinal injuries, and is expected to have a CT scan done later, which will determine the extent of his injuries.
And also admitted to the Male Surgical Ward is 17-year-old Julian Jagbir, of 86 North West Grove, East Bank Demerara.
Jagbir was admitted to hospital on Saturday last, after falling from a building on which he was working at West Minster, Phase II Grove.
An X-Ray done on arrival at the GPH, determined that he had sustained injury to his right pelvic area. His condition is said to be stable, but he is being monitored closely.
