Benschop alleged that Eusi Kwayana was supportive of what was taking place in Buxton during 2002/2003 crime wave

It is with amazement that I listened to an interview broadcasted via internet radio by Demerara Waves in which former treason accused and mayoral aspirant, Mark Benschop was interviewed by Dennis Chabrol and Lloyd King.

This interview should be a ‘must view’ for any right minded citizen of Guyana and potential voter as 2011 elections beckons. During the interview, it was posited by Mr. King that in his book titled “The Morning After” elder statesman and WPA Executive member, Eusi Kwayana named Mark Benschop as a ‘known mastermind’ of the Buxton  insurgency.

A point which was also highlighted extensively by Freddie Kissoon in a series of articles titled “The failure of the Buxton conspiracy”.

Despite his idolization of Kwayana, Kissoon now enjoys a very cozy relationship with Benschop.

To this Benschop responded by saying that what Kwayana actually said in his book was that himself (Benschop) and Ronald Waddell were in Buxton to offer support  for what was taking place.

And that they were part of the ‘mastermind’ but not part of the political mastermind. Benschop also revealed that during the time of the crime spree of  2002/2003 and during the holding up of criminal elements in Buxton, he had met Kwayana on numerous occasions and he (Kwayana) was very supportive of what was taking place inside the village.

In fact, he went on to state that at one time Kwayana said to certain elements within the insurgency to ‘keep up the struggle’, in obvious reference to the continued slaying of hundreds of innocent men, women and children, the majority of whom were of Indo-Guyanese ancestry.

Benschop also said that he held Kwayana personally responsible for Waddell’s death after what he had written in his book.

These revelations I found to be very shocking and it questions the sincerity as well as highlights the two-faced nature of those who profess to have the interest of the citizens of this country at heart. It is amazing how these folks can be condemnatory in public while being supportive behind the scene.
