Upper Bonasika Primary School gets outboard engine

THE Upper Bonasika Primary School in the Essequibo River received a Tohatsu 25 horse power outboard engine from the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development,   last Thursday. Region Three (Essequibo Island/West Demerara) Chairman Mr. Julius Faerber handed over the engine to Head of the School Ms. Gloria Gonsalves, on behalf of the Ministry. Also present were Regional Education Officer (REO) Ms.  Marlyn Jones-O’Donahue, other regional officials and parents and teachers.

Faerber noted at the event that the gesture was as a result of the persistence of parents and head teachers who maintained that children were not coming to school because of transporation problems. Urging parents and teachers to monitor the use of the engine, he said that it should be kept in mind that the engine is strictly for the purpose of transporting children to and from school and there should be no abuse of the engine.

Both the head teacher and the REO thanked the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development for the gesture.
