President commended for commitment to sports development

ATHLETES of Guyana and civil society, if anyone felt I was full of crap with my personal quest with publications in the dailies by highlighting sports and suggestions, it has now been confirmed that we will eventually see the implementation of training facilities which will allow the athletic ambassadors to have a greater scale of preparations for global competitions. This was part of the speech by the President during the sports awards ceremony a few days ago.

I will publicly acknowledge the gentleman for his commitment towards sports development and hope those projects are executed before his reign ends as head of state.

Until then, I urge those in preparation to continue with training and keep the focus in tact.

Very importantly, there is a possibility that you may face the avenue of temptation with digesting performance enhancing drugs and for heavens sake, don’t disgrace the flag you represent.

If you should, I think I would literally give you a punch should we meet at crossroads.

Such action might even take me in front of a jury, magistrate or judge and I feel they would say I should have given two punches. Case dismissed.

To the Head of State, I would be extremely grateful if you can discuss with the Boxing Fraternity and have the project executed of erecting a bronze statue of Olympian Michael Parris, (1980 Bronze Medalist of the Moscow Games) at a strategic point of the CJIA, Timehri.

You will agree with me that the Olympic Games are the father of all and there couldn’t be any better site for athletes to use as a booster for their morale.
