I read with concern the litany of offences against teachers that the TSC investigated last year, and the fact that over 150 were dismissed. This does not sound well for what many of us deem a “noble”profession.Teaching is not an easy job, but at the same time it offers the most satisfaction one can get out of this life. Not a day goes by that I do not hear from one of my former students whose life I had some how impacted during my 45 years as a teacher.

Nothing in this world can make a person feel that he has made a difference in this world than this. Teachers, at the end of their years can look back and say with surety that their lives had not been in vain. Unfortunately, many youngsters see teaching as a spring board for higher paying jobs, and the governments of the world still do not see teaching as a profession deserving of higher salaries. I think that the TSC should endeavor to give young teachers all the support they need to make their jobs manageable, while at the same time they are trying to weed out the bad apples.
