Drug trafficking defendant remanded

ROYSTON Wellington, of Lot 36 Hadfield Street, Georgetown was yesterday remanded to prison, by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, on a drug trafficking charge. It is alleged that, on February 23, he had eight grammes of cocaine for the purpose but he pleaded not guilty.

Police Inspector Joel Ricknauth, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the defendant and he was refused.

Attorney-at-law Ms. Sasha Roberts, who represented Wellington, in her failed application for his pre-trial liberty said he has a medical condition which, if he is confined, will worsen.

The case will be called, again, on March 16.
