ERIC Grey, 24, has been charged with possession and uttering forged currency notes. The defendant (no address given) pleaded not guilty to both charges, which stated that, on February 23, without lawful authority, he had three forged US$20 bills, knowing them to be counterfeit and uttered them to Althea Lindo.
Grey claimed he does not know the virtual complainant but she said she knows him from her neighbourhood.
Lindo told the Court she was selling beverages that day when Grey made a purchase from her and paid for them with the bogus money.
She said, when she realised the US notes were fakes, she went to the defendant’s home and confronted him but he told her she is mentally ill.
Grey was put on $75,000 bail on the uttering charge and released on his own recognisance on the possession charge, until March 23.
