Construction of new $1.2B GPHC facility ahead of schedule

The $1.2B in-patient facility at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) is “progressing nicely” according to Mr. Parmanand Samaroo, the GPHC Director of Facilities Management, who added that the project remains ahead of schedule.
“The project is an 18 month one with the target date being September 2010…Right now we are aiming to complete the project 15 weeks ahead of schedule,” he said.

Samaroo noted that to date there have not been any disruptions, and the project is progressing well.
According to him, fortnightly meetings are held by the Health Facilities Development Unit to review the progress.
The next meeting is scheduled for next week.
The upgrade of the facility is in keeping with GPHC’s master plan and the national development strategy to improve the quality and efficacy of health care services; at the end of the project the facility is expected to house approximately 300 patients.
