THIRTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Vernon Seecharran was yesterday sentenced to six months imprisonment, at New Amsterdam Court in Berbice, for simple larceny.
Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo imposed the custodial penalty on the convict for stealing five gallons of dieselene priced at $4,000.
Seecharran, of Gay Park, East Bank Berbice, went to Madho Harripersaud’s sawmill last Tuesday and stole the fuel but fled after being seen leaving the premises.
However, he was arrested subsequently.
Asked if he had anything to say, prior to his sentencing, the convict pleaded for leniency.
