impressive performers at  IGG trials
CHAVEZ  Ageday and Nadine Rodrigues were among the scores of seasoned athletes that turned out for the Athletic Association of Guyana’s (AAG) Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) trials which were held at the Enmore Community Centre Ground yesterday.
Ageday clocked in at 10.9secs ahead of Shawn Semple who clocked 11.4secs and Kareem Critchlow who closed out the top three ranking with his time of
11.8secs. Ageday later returned in the 200m to best Semple yet again with his 23.3secs as opposed to the latter’s 23.7secs second place timing, Franken Mercurius was the third wheel in this event as he came at 23.9secs.
Rodrigues redeemed herself in the 400m, which she failed to complete at last year’s trials after she fell, with her time of 1min: 01.2secs. Shannah Thornhill, who is the defending champions from last year’s games, came in a close second with her time of 1min: 01.9secs ahead of Ashley Tasher who clocked 1min: 03.2secs.
She also picked up the win in the 200m as she clocked 26.3secs to beat second placed Ianna Graham, who was timed at 26.8secs, and Tiffany Carto who finished in 27.1secs.
Tiffany Carto won the female 100m in 12.5secs beating Ianna Graham (12.7secs) and Deja Smartt (13.0secs). Stefan  James won the male 400m in 52.2secs ahead of Franken Mercurius who clocked 52.7secs and Leon David who was timed at 53.7secs to finish in that respective order.
Kevin Bailey claimed the 800m in 2mins:05.36secs while his female counterpart Jevina Staker finished her race in 2mins: 29.00secs. Jenella Jonas won the female 1500m in 5mins:29.2secs while Carlon Halley claimed the male portion of that event in 4mins: 27.02secs.
Tishon Bentick won the 5000m event in a time of 17mins:28.00secs while Tisha Grimes won the 3000m in 13mins:08.1secs.
Winston Caesar with a distance of 13.37metres and Juanita Hooper with her 9.43metres mark were the male and female winners of the triple jump event. In the shot-put Lisa Bowman’s throw of  8.83 metres got her the top spot in the female category while Ryan Crandon threw to a distance of 10.42metres.
Crandon also won the discus with his throw of 34.50metres and Kimberly Doris was his female counterpart in this event with her throw of 22.95metres.
The sibling duo of Lisa and Michael Bowman won the Javelin throw with respective distances of 30.91metres and 48.17metres. Juanita Hooper won the female Long Jump (4.55metres) while Winston Caesar won in the male respect with his jump of 6.66metres.
The vertical relative of that event, the High Jump, was won by Maxsim Duncan with his height of 1.85metres.
