In wounding case…
TWO students of Vryman’s Erven Secondary School, in New Amsterdam, Berbice, were yesterday ordered, by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, to attend counselling sessions at the Probation and Welfare Department. The order was made when one of them faced a wounding charge.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said, last January 21, following an argument, the 15-year-old dealt the other a lash to his head, rendering him unconscious and he had to seek treatment at New Amsterdam Hospital.
The Prosecutor informed that the defendant was previously arrested on several occasions for similar offences.
The magistrate had, initially, ruled that the virtual complainant be compensated but deferred that after Probation and Welfare Officer Ann Choy revealed that the injured lad also has several brushes with the law.
