Man charged, remanded after Port Mourant Market robbery

POLICE have arrested and charged one man following investigations into the early morning robbery attack on vendors at Port Mourant Market, last week. Mark Robinson, 46, appeared before Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop, at   Whim Court, Corentyne, too, on Monday, when he was refused bail.
The allegation against the remanded prisoner is that he, in company with others, being armed, robbed two women at gunpoint on Thursday, February 4.
The victims are Dhanmattie Ramdat called Galo, 42, of Plegtanker, East Bank Berbice and Ruth Bridgelall known as ‘Sisto’, of Black Bush Polder, also at Corentyne, who lost $60,000 and $3,000, respectively, in the 03:00 h heist.
The case is scheduled for trial on February 25.
