I must express my heartfelt gratitude to the overseas based Guyanese who have remained committed to the development of Guyana by empowering the nation to become more modernized in the technology area. I refer to the most recent contribution of an Information Technology laboratory to the Diamond Secondary School by Mr. Frank Fernandes.
Many of the students there did not have the opportunity earlier in life to obtain computer skills or were not computer literate. Some of them never even saw a computer much less used one.
But today, all of that has changed, thanks to patriotic Guyanese who see the need for offering assistance to Government for the betterment of Guyana.
Mr. Editor, I know a few of the students at the Diamond Secondary School, they are extremely happy to be given this wonderful opportunity of learning in a modernized environment with new facilities and equipment.
It is nice to know that although Guyanese have left the country for various reasons, they are still intent on giving back to their homeland and afford the children of today the opportunity of securing quality education and obtaining marketable jobs.
I hope that everyone takes note of the good work that is being done by these patriots and that more persons will contribute to the development of the nation and in educating our children.
