THE Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) has has announced its Mashramani celebrations programme. According to the announcement, all the Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) will compete in a Best Neighbourhood Competition and, on February 13, a Day of Sports for the differently able will be hosted at Queenstown Rehabilitation Centre.
On February 15, Amerindians in the nine communities will be involved in ‘Kaiyaps’ (self-help or village day) activities.
An art exhibition will be staged on February 19 in the Regional Boardroom at Anna Regina and the Best Decorated and Illuminated Buildings Competition will be judged on February 20.
On February 21, several activities will be conducted on the Suddie Playground, including the commissioning of a youth empowerment centre and display of food, clothing and accessories by various ethnic groups.
The February 23 flag-raising ceremony, to usher in the 40th Republic Anniversary will be on the tarmac of Anna Regina Fire Station, starting at 07:00 h and the grand Road Show and Float Parade will begin from Taymouth Manor Primary School junction and proceed to Anna Regina Community Centre Ground, also on Essequibo Coast, where the judging will be done.
The release said a cultural show will be held from 18:00 h, also under the theme ‘Embracing our diversity, celebrating our heritage’.
The Reegional Mashramani Committee is headed by Principal of Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI), Mr. Dennis Jaikarran and includes Deputy Regional Executive Officer, Mr. Devanand Ramdat.
