LEADING prosecutor, Ganesh Hira, in the Ogle 4-man murder voir dire, called his last witness yesterday and is expected to close his case today.
This will provide an opportunity for the defence led by a team of lawyers to begin their reply to the prosecution’s application to the judge to lead additional evidence and to object to the prosecution tendering caution statements in relation to the crime.
JUSTICE Brassington Reynolds is continuing a voir dire (a trial within a trial) to determine a question of law as to whether the prosecution is entitled to lead additional evidence at the trial.
The murder trial involving accused Christopher Dhanrad, also known as Paul Jagnandan, Azim Khan, Vijay Rajkumar called Eon, and Kumar Seeraj called Boysie, is for the murder of Teddy Smith on October 24, 2004.
Mr. Ganesh Hira is appearing for the State, in association with Miss Latchmie Rahamat and Miss Rhondel Weever of the D.P.P. Chambers.
The accused have pleaded not guilty and are being represented by Lawyers, Mr. Hukumchand for Azim Khan, Miss Kamini Parag for Rajkumar, Mr. Euclin Gomes for Paul Jagnandan and Mr. Adrian Thompson for Kumar Seeraj.
The hearing of the voir dire is continuing before Justice Brassington Reynolds.
