His brother-in-law, Gopaul Boodhoo, yesterday told the Guyana Chronicle that he suffered severe internal injuries and died after midnight.
He said that there was massive internal bleeding and there was nothing the doctors could do to save his life since the bullet shattered most of his vital organs.
His wife was inconsolable yesterday when this newspaper visited and scores of relatives and friends were there trying to comfort her.
Bholanauth is survived by two children, three and six years-old, and scores of family members.
Mr. Boodhoo said that Bholanauth is expected to be cremated on Sunday.
He was the victim of a robbery at his business place on Sheriff Street on Monday night.
He was shot at close range by one of two bandits who entered his business place and ordered him to hand over a laptop computer.
Bholanauth was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was shot in the chest by one of two males, whom employees described as “youths” who entered the business outlet and requested credit for their cell phone at about 8:30 pm.
Within a few minutes they barged into the place and attacked Bholanauth who was using a laptop computer and ordered him to hand it over. He resisted and was shot at close range by one of the robbers who managed to grab the laptop. He then fled to a waiting motorcar which was parked not far from the scene.
A dispatcher and several employees were in the office when the attack occurred.
